Thank you for your comments after your recent cycling holiday in South East Asia, Darrell. It sounds like you had a good time overall. I will pass on your feedback about the timing of cycling and visits to see if any improvements can be made to the scheduling to keep cyclists out of the sun during the hottest parts of the day. A lot of thought goes in to the logistics and operation of these tours, but there can always be room for improvement. I’m sorry to hear that your wife had problems with her bike’s size. From our end, I have checked (and double checked) that her height of 5ft (152cm) was passed on to all of our local suppliers. We fully understand that having the correct size of bike is extremely important, which is why we ask for your heights at the time of booking. We are very careful in passing these details on accurately. Our local partners go by the manufacturers’ recommendations for allocating bike sizes. As you will have seen from the sizing chart I emailed you, a height of 5ft falls on the borderline between two sizes, with both sizes being acceptable for a 5ft cyclist. In this case it seems your wife was given a larger frame than she was comfortable with (while still being well inside the recommended size from the manufacturer). I’m really pleased that a smaller sized bike was brought out overnight from Bangkok so that she could continue the ride. Our phone number is our office phoneline, (a landline) so we don’t receive text messages. That meant we didn’t hear from you about the situation until now. Of course, had you emailed or phoned, we would have acted immediately. By the sounds of it, our local partners acted quickly to address your concerns which is good news.
