Thank you for your feedback although we are obviously disappointed to read your comments. We are very sorry that it has been necessary for us to keep the restaurant closed in the evenings until further notice. This was a very difficult decision we had to make and it was only made shortly before re-opening the hotel at the end of May. The reason is directly related to Covid and compounded by a severe shortage of staff in the hospitality industry and particularly in the South West. We have been trying for a long period of time to employ chefs to cover evening service both via direct advertising and through employment agencies, but without success. It’s interesting to note that there are two highly reputable hotels in the area which have had to make the decision to only service Continental breakfast in guest bedrooms as they simply do not have the staff. Fortunately we have a full kitchen team for mornings so our breakfast service is unaffected. We note that you booked on a bed and breakfast basis and did not pre-book any evening meals. We are genuinely sorry that the lack of restaurant was such a disappointment to you.Whilst we recommend that guests book restaurants in advance we have not heard of guests being unable to get booked in. We are fortunate to have a wide choice of dining options in Porth and Newquay and we often get positive feedback from guests who have booked from the list of local restaurants which we recommend. A link to the web-page is sent out to guests with their pre-arrival email. We offered to send this to you in advance, when you called us prior to your arrival, but we understand you advised you were not good on the internet.We are disappointed you feel that the hotel has some dated facilities. We are a traditional styled manor house hotel and have an ongoing refurbishment programme. In fairness, style is a matter of personal taste. Many of the bedrooms have been updated and the room in which you stayed has had a new carpet and a new bed. The images we use to promote our hotel accurately reflect the style we offer and we are sorry that you did not feel suited to Porth Veor Manor.
