Really did not stay at St Jean de Losne. Instead we did a boat trip to many other towns.

The only issues were the many leaks in the roof of the boat and the condition of the fans which were clearly in need of repair. We dealt with these conditions and had a great vacation
The boat was very adequate but I would recommend not putting 8 adults and 2 children on the 8 +2 sized boat. It was wonderful on the top deck but quite crowded inside the boat.
This is not the best route because we were always on a river. There were many interesting towns that we visited.. If you have never been on a trip before I would suggest one that is totally on a canal
