The whole family loved the house and we had an absolutely wonderful holiday. We were all very comfortable and we never felt cramped. The house is marvellously stylish with masses of space both inside and out. The pool proved a huge success and our grandchildren all made enormous progress with their swimming ability and confidence. The house is quiet, so we were able to sit undisturbed on the loungers when we wanted to. The music system proved a great hit with young and old alike, with the oldies replaying all those tunes from the 60s and 70s.
We all played on the table football and we all loved playing billiards. There were lots of books for easy reading to supplement all those we had brought with us.
Once we had worked out which sparkling white cupboard contained the items we were seeking in the kitchen we had plenty of everything. We ate out a few times but otherwise we enjoyed eating each evening in the pool dining area and we loved the clever lighting from the pool.
The upstairs TV room was perfect for the very young at the end of each day when they were tired but happy. Just before going to bed they went up there for half an hour of video. The television is the biggest any of us have ever seen and there was a great selection of children’s films. My brother in law watched the cricket on it one afternoon and said that it was almost like being at the match, so he was suitably impressed!
The security door to the swimming pool needs to be fixed so that the catch engages properly and ideally it should also be hung so as to open out from the pool
As we found our bearings in the house we were all very impressed by the modern look, especially in the bathrooms. The basins in particular are very trendy but we soon realized that the look was let down by some practical aspects.
The plug in the bath of the “snail bathroom” did not work properly so the small children were often bathed in one of the other bathrooms.
The sloping basins which we had in our bathroom had no plug (a deliberate feature) which gave me a slight water conservation concern but then neither drained well unless one ran the basin full of hot water and used this to sluice against the bottom opening so as to clear the evacuation of the water.
The controls to the lighting did not always work because they are battery powered and perhaps a little too clever for their own good. None of us could work out how to turn off the light in the hall at the foot of the stairs until Julia replaced a battery, but within just over one week this went wrong again. There are some lights above the billiard table, which would have been useful, but we never did find out how to turn these on.
The pool dining area was great but just about every adult in our group hit his or her head on the very sharp and low lintel above the BBQ. Where this happens in other buildings I have seen a rubberized strip installed, and this would be a good idea here.
The dishwasher did work but was temperamental. The door appears to be loose and this may be part of the cause. We mentioned this to Julia and maybe it has already been fixed.
The welcome pack was indeed very welcome but it would have been helpful to know what you were planning to include. We brought out a few things, including tea, but some of these were duplicates of what you provided.
