Although we can assure you it is not necessary, it is nice to hear your comments regarding your interest to test the authenticity of your silver bar. It is very common for the refiners to offer bullion in sealed tamper proof packaging, it adds value to their products and they can sell them for more. It may surprise you to know that when a refiner buys a bar back they will still usually melt it down regardless of condition of packaging.
