I think it's fair to say that it is less abrasive than normal plastic scourers, but more abrasive than a sponge or cloth. Due to the natural nature of the products you might also find that some are slightly rougher than others, so if you did buy a few it might be worth trying another one.
They definitely aren't a wire wool substitute. I'm thinking I'll try and find a chain-mail cloth for this kind of work. Like these here on Etsy. What do you think?
