We're sorry to hear that the cleat wasn't large enough to accommodate your needs. We'll certainly take your feedback into consideration, we can see from the photo you have still managed to make the cleat work for you so that's great. In regards to the wooden laths sitting close together this is how this particular design works as it doubles up as a shelf. All the sizes are displayed in the technical description, with the Gismo Clothes Airer which you have chosen the wooden laths can sit vertical or horizontal. The maximum distance is 3.5cm if sat vertical on the Gismo. We do have different designs of Airers which offer 10cm distance between laths, so there is something to suit everyone's requirements.
