It's beautiful material but ironically so thick that it's difficult to knot the tie.

It is usually the case that different types of ties require a different kind of knot for the best look. If you follow the “customer services” link at the top of any page on our website, you can find details and instructions of all the different ways to tie a tie by simply punching in “tie knot” into the question box on the following page. I’m confident that this will prove to be most useful, but if you have any further problems please do let us know.
