The problem was with the bolt-holes being obscured by the leather on the side of the chair back. This made for a lot of annoying attempts to locate the bolts and eventual cross threading of one of them. I think your 'assembly' instructions merely need to specify that the 'arms' should be attached to the back first, ( loosly ) and then presented to the chair seat, where the bolt holes are more ready for access. But as they read at present it seems everything should be done at once. This leads to the difficulties I experienced. Thanks for your attention.
