We imagine you are referring to the import sales tax you were charged upon delivery to Ireland. When you made your purchase with us you paid the price of each item as shown. The baby products you purchased are zero rated for VAT in the UK so no sales tax was charged by G.H. Hurt & Son Ltd. You may be aware that from 1 July 2021 each EU country charges their own local sales tax (VAT) for any non-EU purchase entering the country. This, plus any admin fee for collecting this local sales tax, is what you would have been charged by the EU upon delivery. The EU sales tax itself is no more than you would have been charged if you purchased the same items in Ireland (less the admin fee). Unfortunately this new EU law is beyond our jurisdiction. If you purchased with any non-EU retailer you would now be paying this EU sales tax and admin fee, either at the point of sale or at point of delivery. We are highly aware how this new EU law can impact our customers in EU. Therefore we do take pains to make our customers aware there will be sales tax charges upon delivery in our 'Shipping Tax and Duty' section under each product viewed.
