The British Museum Set of two magnetic list pads, decorated with reproductions of two exquisite paper-cut collages of flowers created by Mary Delany (1700–88), featuring a Yellow Flag Iris from 1777, and Rosa Gallica from 1782, now in the collection of the Museum. After her husband, Dr Delany’s, death in 1768, Mary Delany spent her summers with the Duchess of Portland at Bulstrode in Buckinghamshire, and it was while staying there that she began her remarkable series of over 1,000 flower collages – or paper ‘mosaics’, as she called them – which were bequeathed to the British Museum by her descendent Lady Llanover in 1895.
