I'm delighted that you enjoyed the route around the Picos so much. Perhaps just to clarify, your luggage arrived an hour after you on that one day because Jesús, the taxi driver, was having a particularly busy day and lost track of time. It isn't how we plan things at all, in fact, I don't know that it has ever happened before but in any case we've spoken to him to make sure it's not repeated. As for the directions, I'd love to hear more on this. As you know, at your arrival meeting in the Picos, we provide the most detailed O.S. maps available, walking notes and also a GPS with the route loaded so I'm concerned to hear that you had a problem. I'm delighted that you enjoyed Costa Rica so much and found that there was something for everyone in your family there. re: Esta documents, that's an interesting point. It is something we highlight for you in our holiday guides which are emailed and then posted to you in hard copy. It's also something which should have been highlighted by the people who issued your tickets. However, nobody wants that kind of stress at the start of their holiday so we'll have a think about how we might flag it even more. By the way, the relevant part from our notes is under Practicalities, the Documents & Visas section. I'll reproduce it in full here as it's useful information for anyone who is transiting via the US: "If you are flying via the USA you must have a machine-readable passport otherwise you will need a full visa. If you have a line of chevrons and numbers on the photo page of your passport then it is machine- readable. You will also need to have an ESTA to transit through the USA. This is an online form (usd14pp fee) which you will find at: https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/. This service costs usd14 per person; beware of sites which may come up on a search engine, these can look official but actually charge more than this as a fee. You will need dates of birth, passport numbers, expiry dates, etc to fill in the form fully. Every member of your travel party must have completed a valid ESTA application prior to travel.
