Crowned with an abundance of vine leaves and grape clusters, the god of revelry might appear to be puckering up for an inebriated kiss. Instead, wine issues from his lips in soft launch fashion against the decanter’s neck to enhance aeration. In the Roman pantheon, Bacchus is the god of the grape harvest and winemaking, revelry and theatre, customarily depicted in frescoes, ceramics, mosaics and statuary crowned with vine leaves and grape clusters. A sieve to catch any lees or cork fragments is included.
