The 150 year old Balmaadi Estate in the Nilgiris District of Tamil Nadu, India is certified organic, eco-friendly and socially responsible by the Institute for Marketecology (IMO). The estate lies at 6,000 ft above sea level and its surrounding forests are home to the kopi luwak or civet cat whose foraged droppings are collected and washed. This organic, high altitude Kopi Luwak coffee is characterised by particularly dense beans, yielding a beautifully dark and rich cup with overtones of caramel and citrus.
