No cottage garden border is complete without the towering blooms of this hardy perennial! Delphinium ‘Pacific Hybrids’ sometimes referred to as ‘Pacific Giants’ were developed in the 1950’s and 60’s. Their majestic flower spikes rise above the palmate foliage in June and July bringing drama and structure to borders.

Our postiplugs are some of our smaller plants that do require growing on before they are planted out and we are sorry to hear that they were too tempting for the local wildlife. Kind Regards, Amy, Customer Care

I am so sorry to hear this and hope this will help. Pot up delphinium plants using free-draining compost, and grow them on in frost free conditions until large enough to plant outside. Once they are well grown and all risk of frost has passed, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days before planting them outdoors. Choose a sunny position that is sheltered from strong winds, on moist, well drained soil. Protect young delphiniums from slugs and snails. Cut spikes of faded delphinium flowers back to a flowering sideshoot to encourage a second flush of blooms to be produced. In autumn, cut the old foliage back to ground level. Caution: Contact with delphinium foliage may irritate the skin and eyes. All parts are harmful if eaten.
