I understand from your feedback that there may have been some confusion regarding the Otex Akva primer you purchased. I'd like to take this opportunity to apologise for any inconvenience you may have experienced and provide you with some additional information to help prevent similar issues in the future.
Otex Akva is only manufactured in an A-base (light shades), which means that darker colours, like the Mahogany shade you selected, will be several shades lighter once tinted. Located at the top of the Otex Akva product page, there's a highlighted warning with a link to the following information:
'Some primers in our range, like Otex Akva, may appear lighter than your chosen topcoat, especially with darker colours. This is due to their A-base formulation, which prevents them from achieving the same depth as a C-base (dark base). For example, if you tint these primers in black, they'll result in a light grey.
Despite this, we recommend tinting towards your intended topcoat shade for optimal coverage. This approach aids in effective colour obliteration, reducing the overall number of coats needed.'
In the future, if you need an exact match on a C-base (dark base), I recommend using the Otex Adhesion Primer (oil-based) or our Ultra Primer (waterborne, available only in 3L). Both of these primers are manufactured in C-base.
Thank you for your understanding, and I hope this information helps with your future projects. If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out.
