Thanks for your comments regarding this product. We understand that this can be a problem with this item, but it can be down to the make of batteries that are being used. The contactors on the batteries are prouder on some more than others which can cause them not to make contact. I understand it isn't ideal, but you can resolve the problem by bending the contactor inside the scales slightly so that the battery does make contact. I hope this helps. Regards Chris
