GLTC takes the safety of our products very seriously, although not legally required, we do perform testing on all our paints.
The paints are tested to the British & European toy safety standard EN71 part 3 for the migration of certain elements and we also test for the presence of Total Cadmium in addition to this.
We also ensure compliance to the European REACH Regulations with regards to certain banned and restricted chemicals.
All our paints are therefore considered to be compliant to all current relevant safety standards.
As with any painted product there will always be a certain level of ‘off-gassing’once the product is unpacked. Unfortunately, this is unavoidable.We do try to ensure panels are suitably aired prior to packing and we are constantly working with the supplier to ensure this is happening.
It would appear that the Northcote items you have received may not have been aired sufficiently before pack-off but we would like to reassure you that the product and paints are completely safe.
If several of the larger Northcote products are situated in the same room, it may have had an accumulative effect on the strength of the odour in this instance.
The odour should normally dissipate within a few days, dependent on temperature and humidity.
