Hi Linda, thank you so much for leaving a review for us, all feedback is welcome. The Juniper Scalp Therapy Shampoo uses a high percentage of juniper oil obtained from coppiced Spanish juniper trees. This gives the shampoo its rich amber colour and the distinctive ‘burnt wood’ fragrance. Juniper oil has powerful healing properties; not only is it an excellent anti-microbial, but it also slows down what’s known as the ‘epidermal turnover’ - the rate at which the skin cells reproduce and grow. It is one of our main active ingredients and reasons why the product is so incredibly effective at treating a range of scalp conditions.
The Juniper Scalp Therapy Shampoo is a natural shampoo, made with six therapeutic oils, and for that reason we have no plans to add lots of artificial fragrances to try to mask the smell of the juniper. Many customers report back that they like the smell, but we do understand the occasional comment questioning it, particularly if your daughter is a little younger. We hope this has gone some way to explaining.
We recommend that once the condition of the scalp improves, usage can be cut to twice per week, and eventually once per week. This way the product actually becomes incredibly cost effective.
