Hello Victoria,
Thank you for your feedback.
The raw preserve food is a higher cost than our traditional kibble and there are a couple of reasons for this which we will detail below for you.
The amount of fresh meat used is 35% higher than our kibble at a total of 85%. As the meat we use is of such high ethical value being from DEFRA approved farm using only free range birds (meaning every chicken we use is fully traceable), this does cost more than meats used in other high end foods, as most would use carcass as their main protein source which is substantially cheaper.
The freeze drying process itself is very costly in comparison to baking which is the process used for our kibble, and extrusion which is much cheaper and used for most dry traditional kibbles. This process starts by forming the food into shape which is then frozen to -40° after this it then has all of the moisture removed in the drying process, this unfortunately takes a lot of time and requires specialised machines which again is quite costly.
We hope this helps, but please do not hesitate to contact us at customerservices@mcadamspetfoods.com or 01293 265679 for any information or advice.
