Your comments about the furniture have been noted and will be passed onto the owner. The cottages are privately owned and whilst we have an ongoing programme of maintenance and refurbishment, ultimately it is up to each individual owner what recommendations they wish to follow through with. For example this winter five of the cottages (including one which you occupied) are getting new sofa beds, new chairs and new laminate flooring and a couple of the cottages are having new carpets.
We must apologise if you felt the property dusty but we are in a rural location at Green Acres and unless the housekeepers dust on the same day as arrival, this can unfortunately be an issue. Dust levels build over a matter of days in the countryside and pollen and animal dander contribute to the never-ending battle. Also, fireplaces do create a real dust problem.
We follow government guidelines and those endorsed by UK tourism bodies and this includes reducing the inventory in all our self catering properties. Unfortunately this has needed to include reducing the amount of crockery, cutlery and general kitchen equipment as well as cushions, throws, ornaments etc. We are sorry you were inconvenienced but all these items which we have previously supplied have been temporarily removed as they are considered high risk contamination areas. Saying this, if any guest is missing a particular item that they can't live without we are usually able to supply it on request as these items are in storage. We have not removed items to be difficult but in following the guidelines and in the best interests to try and keep everyone as safe as possible in these difficult times.
