Let us explain. You mentioned that you have always had a scaly scalp. The reason for that in your case, having had the problem for so long, is because the speed at which the skin cells on your scalp are forming is too fast.
Instead of reaching the surface at a more normal rate and leaving the scalp constantly every day, they build up to form the scale you are aware of. So it’s not just a question of clearing your scalp of scale - because it will form again very quickly - we have to slow down the rate at which the skin cells in your scalp are produced. This can take time, certainly longer than three washes.
The Juniper shampoo has a soothing and calming effect on the scalp tissues, and gradually slows down the rate at which cells are formed. I would suggest you use the Juniper shampoo every day – leaving it on for a few minutes each time – for a week, then reduce it down to every other day.
This more intensive treatment will help greatly. As for the Juniper conditioner, it does sound like you perhaps do not need this. The reason we recommend keeping the conditioner to the mid-length and end of longer hair and away from the scalp is because it is not needed very close to the scalp. Hair close to the scalp receives a plentiful supply of natural oil from the skin, so no conditioner is required. In short, if you have short hair, it is less likely that you need to use the conditioner unless your hair is dry or damaged.
